The European V-label

In some European countries this service, offered by the industry, has been available for many years already. Consumers value the label as a concise shopping guide and a clear decision-making aid with regards to comparable products.

But the V-label is not only of value to vegetarians. In times of large-scale animal husbandry, feed scandals and BSE, more and more people want to know exactly what they are eating.

However, a label without control is of no relevance to consumers. That is why this particular label has been launched by the European Vegetarian Union (EVU) in co-operation with the European vegetarian organizations but in full independence of the food industry.

Scope of the V-Label

The V-label, under the registered trademark (No. 678.553 A), is valid in almost all European countries from Spain to Russia, from Iceland to Greece.

How is the label used?

The label is used not only for the identification of vegetarian/vegan products and relevant services, but also by vegetarian groups to mark their publications or as the logo of their organisation. The following organizations use the European vegetarian label:
